Erica D. Musser, PhD, ABPP

I strive to be client- and family-centered, culturally mindful, and neuroaffirmative in my practice. Much of my work has focused on ADHD and autism assessments for those who are traditionally "missed" at the referral stage or misdiagnosed, including girls/women, gender diverse individuals, and people of color, as well as cases that are more complicated.

I am also an academic psychologist and affiliated with Barnard College, Columbia University where I do research on neurodevelopment and related disabilities, as well as teach and mentor students.

    My Story

I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Rochester where I majored in biology and psychology. After graduating, I stayed at the University of Rochester where I completed a Master's degree in Human Development and worked at Mount Hope Family Center as a research assistant for two years before pursing my PhD. I completed my PhD at the University of Oregon and clinical internship at Oregon Health & Science University's Institute on Development and Disability housed in the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center.

Once I completed my PhD, I moved to Miami, FL to work at Florida International University where I was an associate professor and affiliated with both the Center for Children and Families and the Embrace Center for Advancing Inclusive Communities where I was the Clinical Director of the Assessment Clinic. Here, I did research on neurodevelopmental disabilities, taught and mentored students, and directed clinical operations while also providing direct clinical services.

In 2024, I moved to New York to take a position at Barnard College, Columbia University, where I continue my research and teaching. At that time, I was also awarded Board Certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology, and opened this private-practice.
